Al-Khadra Mosque or Hizn Sidna Yaq'ub Mosque

Site description: The total area of the mosque with all its sections is about 1345 square meters, and it is accessed through the western gate connected to Ras Al-Ein Street, facing it from the west side by a gate connected to the neighborhoods of the old town. The mosque has an open yard ahead of the building from its northern side. Several modern facilities and staircases have been added to this square, in addition to a water fountain. The north facade also includes gates, the most important of which is the central gate, which is a beautiful gate surmounted by interlocking stone arches; above it, there is an inscription on a marble stone dating the building or renovation of the mosque in 1279 AD, during the reign of the Mamluk Sultan Saif al-Din Qalawun. The mosque consists of a rectangular hall surmounted by intersecting stone arches. The stones of these arches stand out in a unique shape. The western frontispiece includes a door leading to a cave cut in the natural rock. Among the features of the mosque is the minaret of the mosque, which is currently separated from the mosque by a residential house. It is one of the few examples of Islamic minarets in Palestine that maintains its square shape, and represents the Mamluk style in building minarets. The northwestern part of the mosque was destroyed due to the Israeli invasion of the city of Nablus in 2002 AD, and the Nablus Municipality restored it after the attack ended.
