The Jerusalem Hotel has a long and rich history stretching back to the late nineteenth century when it was one of the first buildings constructed outside the city walls. Built over the site of a 4th century Byzantine church, the hotel has witnessed many gripping moments and incidents over the past hundred plus years. During the early 20th century, the building served as an Ottoman police station and was later converted into a house for one of the main families of Jerusalem, and then a school until it closed its doors in 1948. The Khalaf family of Ramallah took over the building in the beginning of the 50’s, converting it into a pension for pilgrimage groups. In 1960, it was taken over by our family though the building was partially destroyed and burnt during the 6th day war in the summer of 1967.</p>
