Bal’a Forests

It is a forested area located on the southeastern slope of Mount Rasheen (Al-Muntar), on the road between Nablus and Tulkarm, and near the village of Bal’a. This area contains mainly forest trees of the coniferous family, most of which were planted in 1964.The region became famous during the British Mandate period, especially during the revolution of 1936 AD, when a battle took place in the region between Arab and Palestinian forces against the British troops on September 3, 1936, where many Palestinian revolutionaries gathered in the area led by Abd al-Rahim al-Hajj Muhammad and Arab armies led by the Syrian nationalist military figure Fawzi al-Qawuqji. At that time, the British forces used aircraft to repel the attack, and the rebels and Arab forces shot down two British planes used in the attack.Later, the Al-Muntar tourist resort was built on the top of this mountain. It contains a small museum with some Palestinian heritage and historical materials, and it is made according to the traditional style of Palestinian villages.
