The Austrian Pilgrim Guesthouse is conveniently located in the heart of the Old City of Jerusalem, close to some of the city's main attractions. Guests can easily access the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Via Dolorosa, and many other sites inside the Old City. Offering 124 beds ranging from private rooms with bath to dormitory style accommodation, the Hospice is an ideal location for visitors wanting the experience the essence of Jerusalem from the heart of the Old City. Founded in 1854 as an ecclesiastical foundation by the then Archbishop of Vienna, the Austrian Pilgrim Guesthouse is still owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Vienna today. Emperor Franz Joseph is also considered one of the founding fathers, having visited the guesthouse in 1869. The complex also offers a variety of eating options, including the Salon or main dining rooms for the pilgrims and guests. The Austrian Hospice Café Triest is the perfect place to enjoy a Viennese mélange and apple strudel, schnitzel, Sachertorte, local and Austrian specialties, all served by our local staff or young volunteers from Austria. Open daily from 10 in the morning until 10 in the evening, the Café Triest offers the largest freely accessible green space in the Old City, making it the perfect place to relax and refresh. Finally, the Schwester Bernadette's Terrace with its awe-inspiring view of Jerusalem's Old City, the Temple Mount, and the Mount of Olives provides a breathtaking backdrop for taking memorable photos. On a clear day, visitors can even catch a glimpse of the mountains of Jordan in the distance. Guests can access the terrace with ease, as a lift takes them up to the second floor. The terrace is open to the public from 10am to 10pm daily.
