Description of the site: Al-Hosh is part of the Al-Yasmina neighborhood, and the neighborhood usually includes several Ahwash (Quarters). The Old City consists of six quarters: Al-Gharb neighborhood, Al-Yasmina neighborhood, Al-Qarioun neighborhood, Al-Aqaba neighborhood, Al-Qaysaria neighborhood, and Al-Habla neighborhood. Each quarter was allocated to one of the extended Nabulsi families, or to more than one family in which a large number of families lived, where the number of quarters in Nablus is approximately 100 quarters. The al-Atout quarter is located in the heart of the Al-Yasmina neighborhood in the Old City, also known as Al-Fakhoura. Usually, Al-Hosh buildings consist of two floors, while others contain three floors of varying sizes. It includes more than 25 inhabited houses, and most of the houses consist of three rooms, while some consist of five. Most of the homes were owned by the Al-Atout family, but nowadays, they are inhabited by families from different families in the city. The only entrance to the quarter overlooks Al-Yasmina Street from the west, facing the A-Choufia quarter, and the entrance, in turn, leads to a narrow, somewhat dark road leading to the inside in the form of stairs and stone rugs. It takes an irregular path that helps give privacy to the residents, and obscure the view of passers-by from inside the yard: some sections of this road were roofed, while others were open. The quarter dates back almost to the Ottoman period, and many building stones can be seen, especially in its foundations, which were reused from the buildings of the Roman period. The road ends in a small square surrounded by its buildings, and overlooked by beautiful wooden drinking fountains. Hosh Al-Atout is associated with the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat when he made it his headquarters in 1967 AD, where he held meetings with the revolutionaries of the city, and the neighboring areas to resist the occupation. However, In 2002, the neighborhood was severely damaged and destroyed due to the occupation forces' invasion of the city. And In 2012, it was completely restored and reconstructed.
It is located in the center of Al-Yasmina neighborhood, one of the old city’s neighborhoods, specifically in the southwestern side of the city. Its Gate overlooks Al-Yasmina Street, which borders it from the western side, and is surrounded by histo...
